INTEGRATIVE HEALTH COACH PROFESSIONAL
Integrative Health Coaching is the missing link in modern health care. An Integrative Health Coach forms a creative and motivational partnership with a person to help them successfully make their desired lifestyle changes to maximize their health and well-being. Integrative Health Coaches are experts in the science of positive behavior changes and work intimately with a person's personal vision and their values to inspire successful lifestyle changes.
Duke University Integrative Medicine Center (2011) describes the potential benefits of Integrative Health Coaching:
"Integrative health coaches work with the whole person, take time to listen to client concerns, and ask powerful questions to help motivate clients to make changes.Through the nonjudgmental coaching partnership, clients are empowered to reach their highest level of health.
Integrative health coaching inspires change by connecting people with the ways in which their health supports their personal purpose and values.Clients are held accountable for their commitments, and coaches empower them to identify lessons learned from whatever outcomes occur. The coach helps create and sustain the mindset needed to make lifestyle changes by heightening personal awareness.Clients and coaches work in partnership to identify obstacles to change and create strategies for forward movement.Coaches provide additional resources for making healthy behavior changes."

MINDFULNESS MEDITATION AND
MINDFULNESS-BASED
STRESS REDUCTION
Mindfulness is a strongly evidence-based practice for stress reduction, increased aliveness, awareness, joy, and relaxation that improves many health outcomes.
The effective use of Mindfulness in health care has been demonstrated in hundreds of research studies in the United States and around the world. The seminal work of Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD, who brought mindfulness work to the United States, was featured in 1993 in the Public Television Special, Healing and the Mind, with Bill Moyers. As recently as May 2011, ABC News did an excellent broadcast piece on the success of mindfulness practices in health care.
Extensive research has demonstrated that practicing mindfulness can transform the outcomes for people coping with a wide variety of physical and emotional conditions including:
Weight mangement
Heart disease
- Anxiety and panic disorders
- Job or family stress
- Chronic pain
- Cancer
- HIV/AIDS
- Headaches
- Sleep disturbances
- Type A behavior
- High blood pressure
- Fatigue
- Menopause
